The Goring Gap Boat Club is a club that focuses on recreational rowing rather than racing. Our main racing activity is limited to the Goring and Streatley Regatta in July. Here we run races for novice and other rowers who don’t normally compete in races over 300 metre and 500 metre courses. We usually hold fun regattas for scratch crews at the beginning and end of our rowing season. We are not however totally uncompetitive, and we do have a group within the club who take part in some local regattas.
To avoid trailering of boats we have tended to concentrate on local regattas. We have entered the Reading University Head, the Reading Head and Head races are run by the Wallingford Rowing Club.
We also travel further a field – to Angers, France for “Les Coupe des Dames”, a 15km marathon, and also to Paris to compete in “Les Fondateurs” a mere 4km head race – both are great events……our international credentials a credit to the club.
