Club Rowing Sessions

FullSizeRenderRegular club rowing sessions are held at the Boat Club, next door to the Oratory Boathouse, Whitchurch on Thames, during our rowing season – which is all year round, although somewhat dependent on weather and water conditions (see http://riverconditions.environment-agency.gov.uk/)  being suitable. Club sessions will be supervised by a trained Session Manager. Rowing outside of club sessions requires prior authorisation from the Captain of Rowing or another qualified committee member and for safety reasons, especially in winter, scullers should not go out alone.

All members are welcome to all sessions. New members welcome at any session – just turn up and ask for the session manager. Please wear suitable clothes for rowing ie close fitting t-shirts, sweatshirts, leggings or cycling shorts and trainers. Bring a water-bottle and sun protection/ sunglasses/waterproof as appropriate for the weather!

Rowing sessions:

  • Saturday mornings at 9am
  • Sunday morning at 10 am,
  • Thursday evenings at 6pm (summer only)

Note: Thursday evening sessions run from April to October. Saturday and Sunday sessions continue, weather and river conditions allowing, throughout the year.

Children at the club: Children/Under 18s are allowed down at the club, however they must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times. It is not acceptable for the parent/guardian to leave their child on the bank while they go rowing. Children between the ages of 12-18 can join the club as junior members and can row if accompanied by their parent/guardian in the boat.  The Club accepts the policy and procedures relating to Child Protection, as set out by British Rowing, and requires all members to accept them as a condition of membership.
