Our new boathouse is being built and we are keen to inform and involve the local community.
Please come to a public meeting on Tuesday 7th November at 7:30pm in the Garden Room of Goring Village Hall.
Come and meet the team, find out what needs to be done and how you can get involved.
John Lewis in Reading will support Goring Gap Boat Club with their Community Matters scheme between August and October.
Every three months they split a donation of £3,000 between three community groups. Customers vote for groups with tokens, which decides the final donation. Get Community Matters tokens from the Place To Eat restaurant on the first floor.
Please encourage your friends and family to vote for us!
Lorraine and Ros have written a newsletter to bring everyone up to date with the history and current situation with the new boathouse project.
There will be more newsletters in the coming months so plenty of opportunity to find out more and get involved.
Do you shop online? Do it through easyfundraising.org.uk and raise a free donation for the new boathouse fund every time you shop!
We are delighted that our fundraising appeal raised enough to start the new boathouse. Thank you to all our donors and to everyone involved in our fundraising events.
We were lucky to get matched funding for the ‘Buy a Brick’ scheme of £10,000 from the Gatehampton Trust. We also received some stunningly generous donations from several people outside the club.
Unfortunately construction costs rose since we first got planning permission. We raised £34,000 in the appeal and with more expected from upcoming events, we are confident that we can pay for phase 1. We will start once we get confirmation of our grants from Sport England and the Greenham Common Trust.
We need to start phase 2 of the building project as soon as possible after we build the boathouse shell, so we must continue fundraising.
Here is a list of our future events:
- Barn Dance on 20 May in Goring Village Hall, contact Tanya Morris.
- Sponsored Row on 3 June from Oxford to Reading, contact Nick Josephy.
- Goring & Streatley Regatta 22 July, contact Brian Barnes.
- Wine tasting on 30 September in Pangbourne Working Men’s Club, contact Tim Armstrong.
We hope that you are as excited as we are to have reached this milestone in the club’s history! We look forward to seeing the construction of the boathouse start shortly.
